An Entrepreneurship Cell for aspiring entrepreneurs

To help students achieve their entrepreneurial dreams, IIITB has a E-Cell on campus.

The E-Cell acts as a bridge between the students, staff, research labs, institute’s Innovation Centre and alumni, in addition to helping students in spotting business ideas and executing them successfully.

With E-cell, students get to experience the entire process -- from developing their start up ideas to prototyping, testing and finally pitching them to investors. Students can even apply for a startup award that will provide cash grant and other support to help turn their ideas into reality.

Apart from the E-Cell, IIITB has been supporting the wider startup ecosystem in many different forms, including its Innovation Centre and its IMACX Initiative.

“Through E-Cell, we decided to have something that is much more formal and is directly addressing the needs of the students who want to become entrepreneurs. With enormous amount of talent getting generated at IIITB across various fields, it is only fair to expect that we should be in a situation to solve our own problems. Early stage entrepreneurs should be focused and be able to identify problems and find solutions. However, the startup ideas should complement your education and should not be a substitute,” Professor Chandrashekar Ramanathan, Dean-Academics, IIITB.

“Entrepreneurship is not a Sprint it’s a marathon and IIITB E-Cell prepares students for the same”, Karthik Kittu Entrepreneur in Residence, IIITB Innovation Centre.
