Minimum Requirements

The minimum qualification for admission to the M.Tech (AI & DS) programme is 65% in four-year bachelor's degree in engineering (i.e. B.E., B.Tech., or equivalent) in any one of the branches. Those having MSc(CSE/Math/Statistics/Operational Research) degree are eligible to apply to the M.Tech. (AI&DS) programme . Such students are eligible to apply with a condition that they have BSc in Computer Science or BSc in any other subject with Mathematics as one of the courses.

Final-year students expecting to graduate by July 2026 may also apply.

Admissions to the M.Tech (AI&DS) programme is on the basis of performance in the GATE examination. GATE scores (valid as of June 1, 2026) in DSAI - Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will be considered for admission to the M.Tech. (AI&DS) programme.

There is no fixed cut-off of GATE scores for admissions. In 2025, M.Tech (AI&DS) admission offers were made up to GATE score of 596. The GATE score cut-off for 2026 will vary depending upon the applications received.

Updates to the Course Fee for 2026-27.

The students who are joining the programme in July 2026, will pay tuition fee INR 2,76,000/- per semester. The total tuition fees for the entire duration of the programme (for students admitted in July 2026) will be INR 11,04,000/-

In addition, students need to pay hostel and campus facility fee of Rs. 39,000 per semester and INR 28,800 per semester for catering and food services (subject to revision from time to time).

At the time of admission, every student need to pay Library Deposit of INR 4,000/- and Caution Deposit for Hostel INR 15,000/- which are refundable at the time of graduation.

Every student needs to pay insurance charges of INR 3,000/- per year (subject to revision every year).

Other costs for books and supplies, travel, purchase of a laptop, etc. need to be factored by students themselves depending on their individual circumstances/needs.

Corporate Scholarship: IIIT Bangalore students have received scholarships from various corporates in the past, like Reliance Foundation, Tata Foundation, Micron, Intel, HGS, and CGI. IIIT Bangalore will facilitate students applying for these scholarships if the company announces the same.


Utkarsha Scholarship 2026: The Utkarsha Scholarship Scheme has been instituted to attract and recognize exceptional academic talent by offering a full tuition fee waiver to the top-ranked student admitted to the B. Tech or Integrated M. Tech programme at IIIT Bangalore through JEE (Main) or JEE (Advanced), based on the NTA Rank (CRL) in the range of 1–999. For the B. Tech programme, the scholarship provides a 100% tuition fee waiver for the first three years, while for the Integrated M. Tech programme, it offers a 100% tuition fee waiver for the first four years.


Dean’s Merit List Scholarship: All students are automatically considered for the award based on the merit in the order of CGPA for the scholarship and upon approval by the scholarship committee.

Students are selected for Merit-based Scholarships on the basis of the Dean’s Merit List promulgated by the office of Deans every year.

In case of B.Tech. and I.M.Tech. students, the students have to score 3.6 CGPA or more to get enlisted in the Dean’s List. Top 10% of the students will receive the scholarship.


Prerna Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students at IIIT Bangalore for Academic Year 2026-27: Increasing the participation of girls in engineering is essential to building a more inclusive, innovative, and balanced technological future. This scholarship provides financial assistance, enabling girl students to focus on learning, creativity, and leadership without financial barriers. All girl students admitted to the B. Tech and Integrated M. Tech programmes in CSE, ECE, and AI & DS are eligible for this scholarship. The number of scholarships for academic year 2026-27 in the CSE, ECE, and AI & DS programmes, across both B. Tech and Integrated M. Tech, is limited to 10% of the batch intake as shown below.

Terms and Conditions:
1. Applicants will be selected for the scholarship based on their JEE (Main)/JEE (Advanced) NTA Rank (CRL) within each programme. 

AICTE Scholarship: I.M.Tech. Students who have qualified in the GATE exam (and have a valid GATE score card) by the time they start the final year of their I.M.Tech. programme are eligible for the AICTE scholarships as per AICTE norms in the final year of their I.M.Tech. programme.


Student Benevolent Fund: The Student Benevolent Fund(SBF) provides financial assistance to students facing genuine financial hardship. This is a need based scholarship and kicks in, once a student enrols in any program and is found eligible. Students’ whose parents’/guardians’ annual income is less than 11 Lakhs per annum and are unable to source a student loan from banks are eligible to apply. Applicants are required to submit the latest income certificate of parent/ guardian along with the application. SBF is purely for the benefit of the needy or disadvantaged students of the Institute to provision aid for such activities related to their education, boarding, health or other exigencies which cannot be met through other available scholarships.

Since the M.Tech programme is very demanding, and classes, tutorials and laboratory sessions often extend beyond regular working hours and during the weekends, staying at the hostel accommodation provided by the Institute is mandatory.
