Balaji Parthasarathy and Preeti Mudliar have been awarded €13,550 by the Mobile World Capital Foundation, Barcelona, for a study titled, "Gender, professionalisation, and digital platforms: The case of beauticians in India." The study will run from June 2020 to December 2020. It will explore the livelihoods of female beauticians on digital platforms that offer on-demand services through apps, and how the notion of professionalisation is understood and embodied in online beauty work.
