19TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY ON JULY 7, 2019
  • This year, 273 students will be graduating from IIITB.
  • Seven students with PhD, five students with MSc Research and ten students with M.Sc. in Digital Society will graduate. 
  • 92% Placements for the graduating students with an average salary package of INR 14.5 Lakhs per annum and highest salary package being INR 65 lakhs per annum . Internship data.
  • Raijul Sachdev, an IMTech student suffering from schizophrenia, will not only be graduating but will also be awarded with Sir M. Visvesvaraya Scholarship Award. Currently working as research assistant at IIITB, Raijul aims at pursuing PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  
The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT Bangalore) will hold the 19th Convocation ceremony on July 7, 2019, in the institute premises in Electronic City.  Dr Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, will be the chief guest of the day and Mr. Anand Chandrasekaran will be the guest of honour. 
 
This year, 273 students will graduate from various programs which comprises of following.
  • Seven students with PhD degree
  • Five students with Master of Science by Research degree
  • 162 students with two-year M Tech degree
  • Ten students with M.Sc. in Digital Society degree
  • 60 students with dual degrees 
  • 33 students with Sponsored M Tech degree. 
 
As a part of the curricular requirements, students also opted for internships in companies such as Morgan Stanley, Cisco, Flipkart, Amazon ACMS, Walmart labs, IBM and Dell, to mention a few. Average stipend this year was recorded at 35.6 thousand per month, with highest being 87 thousand per month. As many as …….(%) students are holding full time employment offers from organizations such as Goldman Sachs, Walmart Labs, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, for roles ranging from ……... The average salary package offered to these students is 16.68 Lakhs per annum with highest pegged at 54 Lakhs per annum. All but 11 (which is less than 7%) of the graduating students have been placed as of today in 63 companies, of which, nearly 60% are IT product companies, 9% are Banking and Finance companies and 10% are startups.  As many as ten students have decided to pursue higher studies and have received PhD and MS offers from prestigious foreign universities such as University of Waterloo Canada, NUS, Singapore, McGill University Canada, Aarhus, Denmark, University of Central Florida, USA, Univeristy of Maryland, USA, Skema Business School, Paris, France, UC Berkeley, USA, University of Toronto, Canada, Max Planck University, Germany, University of California, USA.
 
IIITB is proud to announce that Raijul Sachdev, an IM Tech student, who has been suffering with Schizophrenia, will be graduating with flying colours. Raijul was diagnosed with the condition during the course of the programme but the 27-year-old fought against all odds and has done the institution proud. Raijul, apart from pursuing a PhD from MIT, wants to use technology to help those suffering with schizophrenia. He is looking at integrating Computer Science with Biology to design drugs that are more efficient in the treatment. He also aspires to design virtual reality tools to give schizophrenic better sense of reality.
