Consulting Faculty

Dr. Maitra is a consulting faculty member in the Department of AI-DS in IIIT-Bangalore. He has over 30 years of professional experience in academia, R&D organizations, IT organizations and manufacturing industries in India and abroad. Immediately prior to joining IIIT-B, he was acting as the Technology Research Principal Director in the Accenture Research Labs in Bangalore where he used to direct a research program in AI driven multimodal conversational systems. Over the years, during his involvement with major technology organizations and academic institutions, he had been engaged in researching on and building intelligent expert systems for healthcare, national power grid, AI driven learning, CRM and financial services. He is a holder of over 2 dozen international patents, published a large number of research papers, supervised dozens of masters and research dissertations and has held program chair positions in a number of international conferences like EMNLP, PreMi, IndiCON and others. He also acted as an invited faculty member in the SP Jain School of Management as a data science expert. His area of research is machine learning – deep learning, natural language processing, optimization – scheduling, 3V modeling (Visual, Vocal, Verbal) and large language models.
