Current Projects
- Wearable Medical Devices
We have developed a wearable device to solve freezing of gait problem and an upper limb wearable device which is envisioned to be used for rehabilitation purpose of physiotherapy patients. The work was carried in collaboration with NIMHANs faculty. This work is carried out by Vinay Chandrashekar under the guidance of Dr. Madhav Rao. - Medical surgical robot
A medical surgical robot is under development in collaboration with NIMHANs faculty which is envisioned as a smart endoscopy probe. This work is carried out by Aravind Reddy under the guidance of Dr. Madhav Rao. - Automatic rat limb detection system
An automatic rat limb detection system was developed and deployed in NIHMANS to capture limb movement of rats during their food grasping activity. This work was implemented by by Vinay Chandrashekar under the guidance of Dr. Madhav Rao. - Modeling of Cu/CNTs as interconnects
We have modeled Cu/CNT composites as 3D interconnects for system on chip applications. We have published few results on the same. The published results are available in publications tab. This research work is done by Dr. Madhav Rao. - Magnetic logic device
The research investigates initial steps in setting logical inputs to an computational device composed of an array of magnetic dots. The device computes by setting inputs on one edge of the device driving the entire global ground state and reading the results on the far edge of the device. The proposed architecture offers low power dissipation, high integration density, room temperature operation and simple fabrication steps. We use Center of Excellence in nanoelectronics (CEN) facility at IIT-Bombay. The design and simulation of the architecture is done at IIIT-Bangalore. This research work is carried out by Neha Oraon, Ph.D student under the guidance of Dr. Madhav Rao. - Design and development of 3D antenna
The research involves designing and fabricating optimal 3D structured antenna. The 3D antenna architectured with radiating element surrounding the transmission and feed line. This offers a significant improvement in antenna parameters and a compact 2D footprint. This research work is initiated by Putluru Sravani (former MS student) and is carried forward by Sowmya N, Ph.D student under the guidance of Dr. Madhav Rao. - Graphical robot programming environment
A graphical programming tool is developed in a view to help beginners realize the importance of coding in the form of physical robotic movement. An open source graphical programming tool built on Minibloq platform that allows students to focus more on creative part of programming. A manual for the undergraduate students is also developed and can be found in this link. The architecture was extended for augmented reality robotic demonstration. The work was implemented by Rahul R (former MTech student), under the guidance of Dr. Madhav Rao. - Intel Galileo board Curriculum
A curriculum is developed using Intel Galileo board Generation 1 board. Several sensors, connectors, boards were used to complete this curriculum. The curriculum is designed in a view to get started from basics and extend to advance level of electronics, practised in Industry. Learning links foundation funded this work on Intel Galileo board. A detailed curriculum for high school students to higher level undergraduate students can be found in this link. The work was completed by Dr. Madhav Rao. - Next wave for women safety
The Nextwave project focuses on designing technology options for improving safety of women in public spaces. Two teams, based in Bangalore and Amsterdam respectively, are focusing on the same issue, paving the way for cross-cultural learning. The project is a collaboration between mediaLAB, Amsterdam, which is part of the applied research centre of the School of Design & Communication at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, IIIT-B, and Fields of View, a Bangalore-based research organization, and is funded by CISCO.
