Talk by Mr. Jaap Akkerhuis an Inductee to the Internet Hall of Fame 2017

IIITB had the privilege to host Mr. Jaap Akkerhuis an Inductee to the Internet Hall of Fame 2017 on November 29, 2018. Mr. Jaab Akkerhuis gave a small session on “Developing a network or A trip along Memory Lane" with his experience of introducing internet in the Netherlands.

Speaker Bio: Jaap Akkerhuis is a Research Engineer at NLnet Labs, Netherlands. He has been instrumental in the development of the Internet in the Netherlands and in Europe since the early 1980s. After a period of seven years in the US where he was active at the Information Technology Center from CMU, mt Xinu, and AT&T Bell Labs, he returned to the Netherlands where he joined the first independent ISP. Later he worked as a Technical Advisor for SIDN, the registry of the NL. He has served in ICANN's SSAC since its inception and is co-chair of the RIPE DNS working group, and he has also served as a co-chair for the IETF ProvReg Working Group. He is also a member of the Stanford Solar Center and SuperSID Software Committee. In 2017 he was inducted in the Internet Hall of Fame as a "Global Innovator".
