M.Tech Program Course Structure

 

Overview
 

  • All the courses under preparatory semester (‘Prep-semester’) are mandatory
  • All the core courses are mandatory
  • Every student must choose a specialization area at end of the first semester
  • A student must take a minimum of six elective courses. A minimum of three elective courses must belong to the student’s area. Each such elective course belonging to a given area is called ‘area elective’. The other three elective courses that a student must take are considered ‘open electives’. Open electives may belong to any area including the student’s chosen area. (This is subject to ratification of the minutes by Academic Senate)
  • When a student fails a course, whether from their chosen area or from another, (s)he must make it up by obtaining a course from the same area (even if it is not the same course)
  • Industry internship / Research Thesis is mandatory
